Al-Qaeda spokesman calls for terrorist attacks on ‘Ottowa’ on extremist website

TORONTO -An al-Qaeda spokesman has called for terrorist
attacks in Canada’s capital. But should any terrorists decide to
follow through, they will not find the Canadian city on maps. The
Oct. 23 post on the jihadist Internet forum Ansar al-Mujahideen
urges its followers to terrorize a city it identifies as “Ottowa.”
“WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?” it says. The Englishlanguage message was
obtained by the SITE In t e l l i gence Group, which monitors
extremist websites. The post asks why Muslims in “Washington,
Ottowa, Brussels, Copenhagen, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Amsterdam, Warsaw
and London” are not taking action while governments in these cities
“kill Muslims and spread corruption.” It adds the “biggest wish” of
jihadi fighters is to travel to non-Muslim lands and “let them feel
what the Muslims feel.”
